History on Horseback
What better way to see the sights than from the saddle? Luxor is known as the largest open-air museum in the world, and the West Bank can easily be explored by horseback. Venture through the hills around the Valley of the Kings and visit ancient temples from the saddle. In Cairo, you’ll have the chance to gallop through the desert on a once-in-a-lifetime ride around the Pyramids of Giza!

Our beautiful Baladi horses each have a story. They all come from difficult backgrounds of abuse or neglect and have been given a second chance to heal and thrive in a new life. Changing the stories of local horses in need is the motivation behind our tours. When you book a tour with us, you are helping us continue our rescue work.

Not many places in Egypt have descent saddles and helmets available, but they did! All horses looked great and I already look forward to my next visit

kim taylor2024-02-15Wow! This experience was more than a holiday! I have been on holidays all over the world but I have not had such an amazing immersive experience before. On horseback we explored the pyramids, food and museums of Giza, we were taken on rides through local villages, around the fields and banana plantations and travelled to ancient sites around Luxor. Our experiences were made even better by the young , enthusiastic guides, organised by our hosts Ganud and Annemarie. Our eight day trip included river boat rides, many different food stops and even time to relax in the beautiful courtyard at our hotel. Of course, the horses were the best thing. All of the horses have been rescued and nursed back to health by Ganud, Annemarie and their devoted team. They really seem to enjoy their work and have a wonderful life at the stable. Our riding guide Saied eased us through all our adventures with expertise and good humour. The best thing was that we were welcomed so warmly and now feel we have a family waiting for us to come home in Egypt! Thanks to you all.

Enikö Szatmari2024-02-05Ich bin eine untypische Touristin hier, gehöre eigentlich nicht in die Zielgruppe von Horses&Hieroglyphs, denn ich bin keine Reiterin. Ich habe meine Kusine begleitet, die eine gefestigte Reiterin ist, und es wurde für unsere 9 Tage in Ägypten ein tolles, personalisiertes Programm zusammengestellt. So war meine Kusine öfters reiten, während ich auf Stadtbesichtigung war, oder mit dem Jeep in die Wüste gebracht wurde. Die Zeit war super organisiert, habe viel Tolles gesehen bzw. erlebt, und alle beim Reitstall waren sehr herzlich. Ich habe mich auch als Begleiterin gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Wir haben eine Nacht in der Wüste verbracht, das war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis, geradezu magisch. Aber auch drumherum war das Programm toll. Und es ist sehr bewundernswert, wie die Pferde gesund gepflegt und trainiert werden. Ich kann Horses & Hieroglyphs allen wärmstens empfehlen. 🌞

Karin Nussbaum2024-01-06Wer das echte Ägypten kennenlernen möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Die Pferde sind fleissig ung gut zu händeln. Die meisten wurden aus schlechten Verhältnissen gerettet und werden liebevoll von Ganun und seinem Team aufgepäppelt. Annmarie hat von der Ankunft in Cairo, dem Ritt bei den Pyramiden, dem Flug nach Luxor usw. bis zur Abreise alles perfekt organisiert. Überhaupt war es ein rundum gelungener Urlaub mit vielen neuen Eindrücken und unglaublich leckerem Essen. Die Nächte in der Wüste sind ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis.
