EXCELLENT Based on 141 reviews Posted on Anja LabitzkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Angelina A.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very lovely experience! The horses are happy and well looked after; they were happy to take us on with one rider only and two non-riders; professional guides who are adventurous but also safe and sensible. Really thoughtful programme for non-riders as well, with an excellent guide (Mohammed) and good coordination so we all met up at the right times. We had booked through a UK riding agency due to safety and animal wellbeing concerns, but I would now feel very confident booking with them directly. Highly recommended!Posted on Shelby HunterTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Horses and Hieroglyphs. What an amazing vacation. We started in Cairo with Annmarie’s handpicked guides, touring the pyramids and local sites. The guide to Giza was a hoot. He took it upon himself to curate the funniest and most cinematic photoshoot I’ve ever had. Not to mention, because of his insider connections, you are given “unadvertised” privileges and exploration opportunities while on site. He went to great lengths to make sure our experience on the horses was safe, fun, and memorable. When we arrived in Luxor, we were taken straight to the operational headquarters, so to speak. On site villas where we would be spending our downtime, just a short walk from the stables. Beautifully furnished, spacious comfortable, and within direct access of the town if you desired to do any independent exploration. Whenever we were not eating in town, we would be eating poolside on the patio in this vicinity. The food… oh the food. I have literally never had better. EVERY SINGLE MEAL was so well seasoned and delicious. The best thing on the menu? The eggs. I know that sounds weird, but you don’t even know. To preface, I have had Gordon Ramsay’s eggs at the Hell’s Kitchen in Miami. Chef Adam’s eggs were better. This man’s food was so good, I purposed marriage. From what I understand, he’s currently unavailable. But, Adam, if you are out there, the offer still stands. Onto the stables: The riding excursions take you through the heart of the city to the outskirts of town. You get to experience every walk of life and interact directly with the community. It lends to intimate knowledge of the people and the land, if you are into the authentic experience and appreciate experiencing a place’s true culture, this is the trip for you. Fully enmeshed but fully safe and supported. The scenery is beautiful and the terrain varied so you are able to experience a wide variety of paces. Onto the horses: arguably the most important part. The horses have all been personally rescued and rehabilitated by the owners. The state these poor creatures were found in was truly deplorable and to see the level of recovery, health, and strength that they have been able to achieve is a testament to the deep love and devotion of Annmarie and Ganun to this cause. Not to mention the level of training. These horses are seriously well-trained and enjoyable to ride. And fast… did I mention they are FAST! Because all proceeds from the vacation package go directly to operating the organization of rehabilitation, this trip is one you can enjoy but also feel good about taking. This is a trip I fully intend to make a regular staple of my travel regimen. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and still was able to experience adventure. This place, these people, couldn’t be more beautiful. They are now a part of my family and I’m grateful for the experience. I will definitely be coming back.Posted on Clementine AubryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a great 2 hours ride with Ganun around the villages and sugar canes fields. Horses a really well behaved, perfect for quite walking and nice canter! This stables makes a great job to take care of weak and sick horses - they look so happy there! Thanks to Horses and Hieroglyphs and see you next time for the sun rise ride!Posted on Emma Süd.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beautiful place, heartwarming people and lovely horses. I went on a one-hour ride today and there is nothing more to say other than that the whole experience was wonderful.😩💓💓 The horses here are kept under the best conditions in all of Egypt. Well-fed and willing animals that (like Angel, for example) even follow word instructions. Despite the fact that I was alone, one ride was planned just for me and my every wish was catered for. Countless photos, videos and moments were captured. Galloping through Egypt's fields had been on my to-do list since the beginning of my trip and this is where I felt truly at home. I was never the slightest bit afraid with Ahmed beside me and on Angel. Every conversation today and every gesture rounded off the day incredibly well. My father, who had been waiting for me the whole time, was warmly welcomed, invited for tea and later taken along on the motorbike. He was also completely satisfied. I'd like to point out again that the horses here truly live under exceptionally excellent conditions and are treated fairly. If you're in Luxor and want to ride but don't want to risk an animal's health, come here.Posted on Kelly HannonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. One of the most amazing trips of my life! The carefully curated blend of riding and cultural experiences made for a truly unique way of exploring Egypt that I don’t think many people get, and the sheer exhilaration of galloping past ancient pyramids that dwarf you is a feeling I’m eager to repeat. But the evident love that everyone at Horses and Hieroglyphs has for their rescue horses is what truly sets them apart from all other outfitters I’ve ridden with. Hearing the stories and seeing the pictures of how these horses came to them and seeing the turnaround to strong, thriving, athletic horses they’ve become is inspiring. I hope to be back very soon!Posted on Suzanne JEAN-BAPTISTETrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Gaby De vriesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
EXCELLENT Based on 82 reviews Posted on Anja LVerified Stunning riding holiday in the heart of Egypt An absolute must-have for every riding enthusiast! Annmarie and Ganun take care of neglected, sometimes severely emaciated and injured horses. Thanks to the careful care of the rescued horses, they get a new chance and can even be used as riding horses. You can tell that the rescue of the horses is close to their hearts and they take great care of their welfare.Horses are available for riding to suit all tastes. Whether calm or spirited. Everyone gets off the horse here beaming. I also fell in love with my horse Osiris. He loves the speed and gallop in the desert. Our 1 week riding holiday took us into the desert near Luxor. Phenomenal, breathtaking. That is all we can say about this. A ride into the sunset. Overnight in the open starry sky, enjoy the sunrise in the middle of nowhere. You also get to talk to the locals very well and learn to appreciate the people and the area very much. Those who wish can also visit the temple complexes. Highly recommended. An all-round successful week with the best organization and the best food ever. Anyone who leaves the country hungry is to blame for this.I'll come back all the time too!Posted on Julia OVerified Riding in Egypt as it could not be better! A great week! Very nice hosts, family atmosphere, great, fit horses that have been rescued from bad circumstances and rebuilt with a lot of expertise and horse love! And the sightseeing tours with competent and nice guides- great!Posted on Shelby HVerified A Luxury Egyptian Vacation You Can Feel Good About Taking Horses and Hieroglyphs. Let’s take it from the top, shall we. Quick shout out to Adrienne from Equescapes who put this tour on my radar and managed the entire booking process. She was great and I will definitely be using her company again. Now onto the meat and potatoes. H&H is both a luxury vacation package and a philanthropic endeavor. It’s a trip you will thoroughly enjoy but also feel good about taking because you are essentially giving back and contributing to the rehabilitation and thrival of local horses and supporting the economy and businesses of the Luxor community. It is a staple of the community and works with local vendors to support and encourage the local economy not the tourism industry. Annemarie hand picks her guides that she herself has vetted for safety, expertise, and professionalism. Every element of this highly curated experience is customized to the skill level and enjoyment of its participants.Local highlights, authentic experiences, direct interaction with the community, but also the safe luxury accommodations you would expect at a 5 star resort. Easy access to the Nile and local shops. Because Gunin was born and raised in the community, you’re given the benefit of their intimate knowledge of the area and are able to utilize their inside connections. They set you up for success by curating your sightseeing and shopping experiences at verified reputable and authentic outlets. They go to great lengths to prevent you from being taken advantage of as a stranger in a strange pace. They also go above and beyond to make your experience as intimate and personalized as possible. While I was there, they organized a surprise camel ride free of charge, bought me a birthday cake, and sang to me!!! That is the level of attention and attentiveness. Now onto the most important part of a riding holiday: the incredible, beautiful, well-trained and maintained horses. The tourism package and vacation experience are essentially an avenue to raise capital for the incredible charity this company is known for. All horses are either rescued and rehabilitated or the offspring of said rescued horses. The stories and conditions these animals were found in are heart breaking but to see the progress and health they currently experience, you would never know. The love, care, and training these animals experience is unprecedent. And trust me when I tell you, they are truly well-trained horses. All training has been undertaken by the owner himself, a man who is both talented, kind, and deeply in love with his animals. He is a true horseman. And is beautiful wife, so personable, engaging, and freaking brilliant. She essentially heads logistics and operations. Anything you need she can get it for you. Looking for and off the beaten path excursion, she can find it. Not to mention she is a profoundly talented rider and guide herself. She personally handpicks the horse she thinks would best accentuate your skill set and previous practice for the optimal experience. While he is the mind mastering the horses, she is the mastermind building the experience from the ground for you. What these people are doing in this corner of the world is incredible. The experience is so personal and well executed. I was blown away. Not only did they make me feel a part of their family, they delivered a meaningful and fulfilling experience that I was excited to take part in.Posted on Kelly HVerified Egypt on Horseback This was one of the most amazing trips I've ever been on! Beautiful horseback riding, off the beaten path of Luxor, through fields and historic sites. I was apprehensive because I don’t practice all year round but they reassured me and I have evolved a lot. They look after horses very well, and offer a horse according to the level of riders. I highly recommend calling on them!Posted on Eric WVerified Horseback Riding in Egypt My wife and I had a great experience this past February after having taking tours on horseback with Horses & Hieroglyphs. Having ridden along the Nile river and out in the desert was an awesome time. The staff at Horses & Hieroglyphs were super friendly and helpful in making it an enjoyable time. I would recommend anyone visiting Egypt to take advantage of this.Posted on Cynthia SVerified Amazing! Amazing experience! From start to finish, we were on the go visiting what this wonderful country has to offer and experiencing their culture. Horses and Hieroglyphics did an awesome job with the planning and executing! I cannot wait to go back and do this again!Posted on AndreaVerified The Best Trip Ever! Incredible! Fantastic! We were looked after like royalty from the time we were met at the airport until we sadly said farewell! Nothing was a problem! Annmarie had my, left in Australia, prescription medication sorted in 10 minutes at a pharmacy in Cairo! Egypt is so full of history and smiling lovely people. Museums, pyramids, mummies, tombs, temples -definitely awe inspiring! The horses at Horses and Hieroglyphs Luxor stables have all been rescued and they look wonderful now. Most importantly Annmarie and Ganun cater for complete beginners for a lovely quiet ride, to those who are extremely experienced and wish to gallop over the sand! I have returned home talking constantly about my best trip ever and I am a 65 year old travel bug!!Posted on Melissa WVerified Trips of a lifetime with H&H! Not just for horse riders This was my second trip in two years with Horses & Hieroglyphs and I can’t recommend it highly enough! The whole experience was expertly curated for the size and preferences of our group- we got to see all of the major sites, eat great food, and have downtime to rest in between. H&H provided very friendly and knowledgeable guides at all of the historic sites, handled all of the meal ordering (accommodating of groups’ allergies), and organizing all of the transportation. They also customized the group member itineraries so those who wanted to ride horses more could have more rides and those who had been before could visit different sites. It was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation!
